Alice Emmett, 87, passed away at her home on Monday, July 30, 2012, ending her battle with lupus. Graveside services will be held at 2:00PM on Wednesday, August 1, 2012, in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens, 7070 Houston Road in Macon, with Chaplain Steve Womack officiating. Family will greet friends from 6:00PM to 8:00PM on Tuesday, July 31, 2012, at Rooks Funeral Home, 109 West White Road in Byron. Born in Bibb County to the late Henry Cross, Sr. and Izella Everidge Cross, Mrs. Emmett was retired from A.L. Miller High School lunchroom and a lifelong member of Baptist Tabernacle in Macon. She loved her family, was a great cook and loved going to the Powersville Opry every week. She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Veazy Elliott, and granddaughters, Arlette Wheeler and Tricia Zanders. Survivors include her husband, Alton Emmett; children, Patsy Zanders (Richard) of Byron, Roger Elliott (Vickie) of Reston, VA, and Winston Hannah(Randy) of Aiken, SC; stepsons, Jared Emmett of Fort Valley, and Ken Emmett (Alice), John Emmett and Mark Emmett all of Greenville, Pennsylvania; grandchildren, Shannon Clance, Chad Elliott and Evan Hannah; 3 greatgrandchildren and one greatgreatgrandchild.
