Died: February 12, 2013

Fort Valley, GA - Gary Franklin Trawick, 68, the "Bible Toting Policeman," went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, February 12, 2013. Services will be held at 2:00PM on Friday, February 15, 2013, at Chamlee Memorial Baptist Church, 1502 Knoxville Street in Fort Valley with his son,
Rev. Eric Trawick officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery. Family will greet friends from 6:00PM to 8:00PM on Thursday, February 14, 2013, at Rooks Funeral Home, 213 West Church Street in Fort Valley.
Born in Columbus to the late William Franklin Trawick and Laura Elizabeth Davis Trawick, Mr. Trawick was a member of Chamlee Memorial Baptist Church and served in the Marines during the Vietnam Era. He was retired from a long career of service in law enforcement, having worked with Peach County Sheriff's Department, Fort Valley and Roberta Police Departments, and Houston County District Attorney's Office. He completed numerous trainings and received numerous certifications, including graduating from the FBI Academy in Quantico, Virginia. A devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother, most of all he was a committed follower of Jesus Christ.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Irene Jones Trawick; their children, Rev. Eric Trawick (Cindy) of Palm Coast, Florida, and Jennifer Trawick Gable (David) of Jackson; grandchildren, Noah and Isaac Trawick and Emmalynn Gable; brothers, Steve Trawick (Judy) of Griffin and Alan Trawick of Douglasville, and a vast extended and loving family.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Playground Fund, First Baptist Church of Bunnell, P.O.Box 365, Bunnell, Florida 32110. Rooks Funeral Home in Fort Valley is in charge of arrangements.
